Accessibility:

All libraries are handicapped-accessible. Each building is equipped with automatic doors and elevators to the access to the various floors. The Eastlake Library is all on one floor.

Holiday Closings

New Years Day (All libraries close at 5:00 p.m. on New Years Eve),  Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day,  Thanksgiving Day (All libraries close at 5:00 p.m. the Wed. before Thanksgiving), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day



Library Cards

Valid library cards from any of the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Libraries, CLEVNET libraries or a Greater Access Card entitles you to:

  • Charge out library material
  • Access the databases of the Cleveland Public Electronic Library
Who may apply for a library card

Library cards are free. Ohio Residents 18 years of age or older must present ID with the current address listed. Acceptable ID:

  • Drivers license/Ohio ID
  • Recently delivered mail
  • Utility bill receipt
  • Rent/Lease receipt
  • Report card mailed to home
Children under the age of 18 are eligible for cards at their parent's/legal guardian's request. Parent's/legal guardian's ID must be presented; parents/legal guardians must sign their child's library card to accept financial responsibility for material borrowed by their child. Parents/Legal guardians assume responsibility for what library material they feel is suitable for their child.

Library cards must be presented in order to check out, renew, or place reserves on library materials.

Card holders are responsible for all items borrowed. If a card is lost or stolen, please notify any Willoughby-Eastlake or CLEVNET library. There is a $1.00 fee for replacement cards.

Renewal Policy

Materials may be renewed in the library, by telephone or via the library catalog. Materials may be renewed up to five times if no one else is waiting for them. To renew items via the library catalog and to receive email account notification, customer's may access NetNotice.



Fines/Overdue Notices

Fines are charged for each day the library is open. Fines for the following are $.10 per day ($3.00 maximum):

  • Books
  • Magazines
  • Compact Discs
  • Audio Cassettes
  • Books on tape
  • CD-ROMs
  • * Videocassettes and DVDs ($1.00 per day, $3.00 maximum)
  • * Program Kits ($1.00 per day, $15.00 maximum)
  • * No overdue fines charged for Childrens' books and magazines

Patrons receive a bill for replacement costs when items are 28 days overdue. When overdue items are returned, patrons are only liable for late charges.

Book and A/V Drops

Each library has outdoor book and audiovisual drops that are open 24 hours per day.

The Willoughby Hills Library has lockers with outside access for picking up requested items.



Copy Machine Services

All libraries have coin-operated copy machines. Copies are $.10 each.



Exhibits/Displays

Each library provides space for exhibits and displays. Non-profit community agencies or individuals may request use of such space according to library needs. Please contact the Public Relations Coordinator for further information.

Fax Service

Fax service is done during business hours, up until one half-hour before closing. Fees: $1.00 service charge, 25 cents per page; long-distance fees are $1.00 for phone call, $1.00 service charge, 25 cents per page.



Homebound Services

Library materials are delivered to residents of our service communities who are unable to leave their homes due to an impairment. Call your local library for more information.

Material Requests

Card holders may place requests on most material within the WEPL system. The only exclusions are:

  • Reference items
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • NEW Videos and DVD's
Material not available through the WEPL or CLEVNET system may be requested through our Interlibrary Loan Service. The library card used to request materials must be presented when materials are picked up.


Meeting Rooms

The meeting rooms of the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library are available for use by non-profit, educational, cultural and civic groups within Lake County when the rooms are not being used for library activities. Meetings and programs must be open to the public and free of charge. The meeting rooms at our Willoughby Hills location do not belong to the library and must be scheduled through the City of Willoughby Hills. Contact your local library for more information.

TDD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf) 440-516-0843

Hearing impaired individuals may use their TDD equipment to call the Willowick Library for information or to arrange for book reserves or deliveries to a convenient agency location.



Talking Book Service

Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library is the local depository for Talking Book Machines and related equipment. Talking Book Machines are specialized audiocassette players that are provided for individuals who can no longer read or hold a book due to an impairment. Call your local library for more information.



Voter Registration

Citizens may register to vote at all Willoughby-Eastlake Public Libraries.

Golden Buckeye Applications

Golden Buckeye applications are completed by staff at all Willoughby- Eastlake Public Libraries. Golden Buckeye Cards are issued to Ohio residents only, based on age eligibility and/or total and permanent disability.

  • Age Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 60 years of age. Applicants just turning sixty may apply the first day of the month in which they are going to be sixty.
  • Total and Permanent Disability Requirements: Applicants must be over the age of 18 and provide documentation from a state or federal agency that has the authority to certify individuals as disabled, or a statement from a licensed medical practitioner. The physician's statements must say that the applicant is TOTALLY AND PERMANENTLY DISABLED AND IS UNABLE TO WORK AT ANY SUBSTANTIALLY REMUNERATIVE EMPLOYMENT.
